Why everyone is doing this
What is the Tiny Desk AI trend?
Charlie Wilson closed his NPR Tiny Desk set with The Gap Band’s “Outstanding”. In October 2026, TikTok creators started recasting that finale with the weekend’s losing coaches. Now a new cast drops every week, and anyone can sing lead.
Try the Outstanding Tiny Desk AI template with your own photos, then download a version with AI music and a silent copy for your publishing app.

Tiny Desk AI FAQ
Explore the template, plan your cast and check what is included before you create.
What is Tiny Desk AI?+
Tiny Desk AI refers to AI concert edits inspired by Charlie Wilson’s Outstanding Tiny Desk performance. This independent studio lets you upload one or two clear adult photos, for the lead singer and an optional sax player, and make a 15-second concert-style video with newly generated music.
How many people can be in it?+
Two: you as the lead singer, plus an optional friend on sax. Keys and the back row stay as performed in the reference concert. Adding the sax player does not cost an extra credit.
Which photos should I use?+
Use one clear adult photo per role: the lead singer first, then an optional sax player. A sharp upper-body photo works best; the video uses each person’s face, hair and outfit. Only the lead is required; without a sax photo, the reference musician stays. JPG, PNG and WebP up to 10 MB each.
Does the video have sound?+
Yes. Each video includes original AI-generated soul music, not the original Outstanding recording. You also get a silent copy to add a sound available in your publishing app. Check the timing yourself: exact beat and lip synchronization are not guaranteed. There is no music picker or custom audio upload.
Do I need to write a prompt?+
No. Add your lead photo, and a sax photo if you like. There are no settings to pick: the concert reference guides the performance and camera movement.
Is there a free version?+
There is no free generation. One-time packs start at $5.90 for one 15-second, 720p video. Adding a sax player does not increase the credit cost. You can watch the actual examples before buying.
How much does a video cost?+
One credit makes one 15-second, 720p video, whether you add one person or two. Credits come in one-time packs, never expire, and a failed generation returns its credit.
Where are my photos and drafts saved?+
Photos are uploaded for processing only when you generate. Before sign-in, checkout or submission, this browser keeps a temporary copy so you can continue. It expires after 24 hours and is removed when you submit successfully or choose Start over; expired copies are cleared on your next use. Save my setup stores only settings and filenames. Generated videos are private to your account.
Are you affiliated with NPR or Tiny Desk?+
No. Tiny Desk AI / Outstanding Tiny Desk is an independent fan-style generator. We are not affiliated with NPR, Charlie Wilson, The Gap Band, or Tiny Desk.
The desk is set. Who’s singing lead?
One photo is enough. Bring a friend on sax.
